My Story

The challenge and subsequent reward of a career in law drew me in. It complements and mirrors my dedication to exercise and family. Early morning runs are my daily sanctuary—a time to sweat, push limits, and conquer miles. You may also find me at the soccer field, cheering on my daughter and her team.

I find volunteering to be highly fulfilling. When I teach divorce workshops for kids, I often see anxious faces. I aim to help them gain knowledge and confidence to face the uncertainty of their situation. Additionally, as the secretary on the Board of Directors at the Iowa Center for Children’s Justice, I passionately advocate for their cause. Justice isn’t just an abstract concept; it serves as a lifeline for those who need it.

I’ve had the privilege of appearing before judges in many different types of cases. However, my true motivation comes from my clients. Whether victorious or heartrending, your stories give me a sense of purpose. I am not merely striving for results; I am striving for your peace of mind. When the final ruling is delivered, you will know that I have scoured every inch of the case because I believe in being the most prepared lawyer in the courtroom – every time. Background & Expertise

Early in my career, I sought justice as an Assistant Marshall County Attorney in Marshalltown, Iowa, as a criminal prosecutor. However, I was drawn to family law because of the emotional and complicated relationships. I have handled cases all over Iowa, each an opportunity to seek justice. Divorce, custody battles, spousal support, and child support are not just legal terms to me – they represent lives in a state of flux. I am dedicated to standing with you on these issues and determined to fight for what’s right.

I earned my law degree from Drake University Law School (J.D. with honors, 2006) after studying English and Rhetorical Studies at Iowa State University (B.S. with distinction, 2004). One of the most rewarding experiences of my education was attending an intensive foreign language program at the Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Before joining Shindler, Anderson, Goplerud & Weese, P.C. in 2012, I was a prosecutor and served on the Board of Directors at Child Abuse Prevention Services.
